Cheating In The Information Age, Are They Being Faithful

I’m just going to come right out and say it. Cheating is way too easy to do these days with options sitting in everybody’s pocket in the form of apps which let them swipe their way into somebody else’s situation. That’s why it’s important to be a little savvy when it comes to spotting the signals and staying in the loop.

Just how do you catch someone cheating?
Social media makes it really easy for anybody to reconnect these days with old flames. Let’s take for a moment the case where someone, maybe your spouse, reconnects with an old girlfriend and they decide it would be really fun to catch up on old times.
Everything starts out innocently enough at first but before long these two find out that they never really got over each other and despite them both having developed their own separate lives complete with families they just can’t get over how they feel about each other in the moment.
There are usually signals to let you know that something is going on and if you happen to spot some of these signals then you might want to take the time to do a little digging.
What if you find out that they are cheating…
The question really gets down to what even is cheating? Technology makes the issue a really broad one and it’s sometimes hard to tell when the ambiguous line has been crossed. It’s easy to see when cheating has occurred if you were to unfortunately walk in and find your man in bed with his mistress. It would really suck to find that, but at least you’d know for sure.

It’s so much more difficult to determine that type of thing when there’s just a bunch of seemingly “harmless” chatting going back and forth over some text messages. Is it emotionally cheating if they text their ex? Is it even considered unfaithful to simply flirt with a stranger, say on a dating site? Why would they be on one of those things in the first place? What about if it was someone they were in contact with on Facebook? So many what if’s.
Just how common is cheating anyway?
It’s really difficult to count on statistics for cheating, we can’t exactly count on people wanting to be open and honest about this stuff. That said there was an obvious discrepancy when one poll had people “admitting” they had cheated on their partner at 7.7% meanwhile that same poll had also gotten numbers stating the people had been cheated on at 35.6%. Can you see the obvious inaccuracies here? Anyway, this all took place in 2012 and I bring that up because if we fast forward just two years later we get something totally different.

In 2014 another poll was taken and the numbers were really different, and pretty alarming. It was discovered that 57% of men and 54% of women were willing to admit they’ve cheated on their partner in the past. On top of that, 74% of men and 68% of women even claimed that they would cheat if they thought they’d for sure never get caught doing it. Do you have any idea how long an average affair lasts? Somewhere around two years… yeah, that’s not a typo.
How do you confront a cheat?
The odds above aren’t in our favor so it’s easy to become suspicious. A few tips on spotting behavior which might hint to an unfaithful partner are things like…
- Are they treating you nicer than usual
- Are they treating you with more hostility than normal
- Do they seem to be keeping up with their appearance more than usual
- Do you notice unusual behavior while they are on their phone texting
- Are they not home as often as usual and always seem to have the same excuse for why
Suspicion isn’t enough however, you need to be sure you’re correct or you risk lighting a fire under both your feet and there’ll be no one there to put it out.

Ideally you’ll want to get ahold of their contacts list on that phone they’re possibly lurking around on. See if there are any contacts on that list which don’t match up by performing a reverse look-up. Who knows what they just might be hiding from you.
My B F says that texting isn’t cheating,but I say that if they are texting back and forth all day he’s left me home alone while he runs and pucks her up and takes her where ever. Takes his phone to bathroom when he gets a text he gets an attitude towards me when he talks to her.
Yep you have a issue. Mine did same thng screen locked running around corners to text . bathroom atitude all of that. Hay . If theres nothung to hide he will hand you the phone
