Three Times Love Got Someone Locked Up
Romantic gestures are such a lovely thing, just try not getting tossed in jail for showing off to the world that you’ve got a sweet-spot for your sweetie.
We’re going to talk about three very peculiar incidences where someone’s public display of affection actually landed them in legal hot water- take these as cautionary tales… let’s get started, shall we?
1. A love-sick Florida man released a dozen heart-shaped balloons
Helium balloons aren’t exactly the best thing to release into the open skies; they’re pretty bad for the environment overall when handled in that way. What goes up must come down and there’s no doubt that some poor little critters might wonder across these balloons and possibly be strangled or otherwise become entangled in your generous gesture of affection for your significant other.
What happened in this case was the man featured in this story who’s name will be withheld for common courtesy considerations, let a bunch of balloons go as a gesture to his girlfriend at that time. Unfortunately his main squeeze wasn’t the only one to witness the grand gesture, an FHP trooper saw it happen too and the romantic man was promptly arrested and charged with some rather serious stuff like polluting to harm humans, animals, and plants under the Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Act. Did I mention that he happened to be not very far off from an endangered animal refuge?
2. A kiss goodbye leads to airport security breach
You see it all the time in the movies. Some guy ducks airport security to give his love one last goodbye smooch before she’s off on her flight and everybody in line claps and cheers. Yeah, real life doesn’t quite work that way.

This story begins when a TSA officer in Newark, NJ, stepped away from his post on Christmas Day of 2010. A man had ducked under the rope heading into the secure area of the terminal to give his woman a kiss. This was actually caught on the security footage so once the footage was reviewed and you could see these two walk off screen it’s easy to guess that status went to high alert.
Due to this security breach airport officials were forced to lock down and evacuate the terminal which delayed over a hundred flights and as a direct result well over 1000 passengers were held back on Christmas Day. The guy was arrested and charged with defiant trespass- what a bummer.
3. A “romantic” stalker for the ages
Going back to those romantic comedies, it seems like an overall disregard for the law generally gets you the girl in the end. Yeah right… real life isn’t like that at all- it’s time for a reality check.
In Pennsylvania a man was taken into custody because he was caught following around his ex-wife as she went to work. The really bizarre thing is how unusual this guy was. When he was taken into custody he was allegedly wearing body armor and had on him and in his vehicle some of the following items:
- Handcuffs
- Duct tape
- A variety of weapons
On top of that he also had a Valentine’s Day card along with nearly 40 slips of paper depicting various ways one could inflict violent punishments eventually ending in death. This guy was super creepy and thankfully sent to Lehigh County Prison when he wasn’t able to post the One Million Dollar bail.
Suspicion & “Gut-Feelings”
We live in a crazy world with some rather questionable characters. They don’t always start off that way however, which is why it’s good to keep yourself informed wherever possible.
